French Creek Heritage Event: Pontiac's Rebellion

July 14, 15, 2018 ~ Cochranton Fair Grounds, Cochranton PA

A global conflict unfolded throughout 1755, following George Washington’s 500 mile wintertime expedition into the Pennsylvania frontier in 1753 and his subsequent surrender at Fort Necessity the following Summer. Young Colonel Washington’s actions would serve as the initial spark of the French & Indian War, itself only one component (the North American theatre) of the globe-spanning Seven Years’ War that would ignite the world. Within months, the great European powers – including Britain, France, Prussia, Russia, Spain and Sweden (to name a few) - would be engaged in a conflict spanning five continents and embroiled in battles both on land and sea to determine global supremacy; a true War for Empire. A living history event titled, “1755-1763 – Clashing Nations Mired in World War” will be held at the Fairgrounds in Cochranton, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23, 2017. An acclaimed group of authors, historians, re-enactors and living historians will stage two full days of presentations and exhibits to explore this pivotal time period and the events that happened both in northwestern Pennsylvania and around the world.
